Footwear Skills Training for the Marikina BJMP Inmates: A Social Impact Project Collaboration of MAS

The Marikina BJMP Project was first conceptualized back in June 2016. Counselor Bojie Bernardino approached the MASIDO Team on behalf of the Rotary Club Marikina West to create for them a project plan that will provide a sustainable livelihood for the inmates.

The project will be funded by the Rotary Club Marikina West.

And so we worked to create a holistic & extensive project plan that is set to be carried out in several phases as the whole project will involve quite a big amount of funding.

After a couple of weeks, we were ready to present the project to the Rotary Club Marikina West members as well as the representatives from the Marikina BJMP.

The presentation was held at the Hansmat restaurant . The proposal was accepted & unanimously approved by the members of the Rotary.

Counselor Bojie Bernardino also entered the project into the Sangunian. Again MASIDO Team presented the Marikina BJMP Project Plan to the City Council to make it into a city ordinance which opened the project to interested groups who would like to be involved in the project.

It took a few more weeks & a few more months before the Memorandum of Agreement between parties was finalized.

Until finally we were able to set the ceremonial signing of the agreement & turnover of the funds from the Rotary Club of Marikina West to MASIDO & Mariina BJMP last February 2017.

It was also a good day to be positive about the project & discuss the possibilities of its potential to create a social enterprise brand of high quality Made In Marikina products.

The MASIDO Team immediately worked to procure all materials, tools and machines needed.

We started the Footwear Skills Training proper immediately after.
